Instructions for Use

The S-shaped curve design of the Pelvic Myofascial Wand for ease of use rectally or vaginally to relieve trigger points in the pelvic floor musculature and reduce discomfort associated with chronic pelvic pain syndromes*. It helps to relieve painful trigger points through direct therapeutic self-massage.

Use gentle strokes or sustained hold stretching with the Pelvic Myofascial Wand to perform massage and pain relievingtechniques to the pelvic floor muscles. Massaging scar tissue in the perineum or anus may also be beneficial to alleviate scar pain, sensitivity, or tightness.

Normal Response

Applying proper trigger point pressure may lead to some cramping and soreness for a day. Over time your trigger points should become less painful during and afterrelease. Flare ups are normal and should decrease in frequency and severity during the course of treatment.

NOTE:

Breathing into the sensation while applying pressure may allow several layers of tissue to become more fluid and may encourage the natural healing process and reset muscle memory effects.

TheraWand Suggested Comfortable Position

1. Apply a disposable cover and apply a generous amount of lubricant on the release-end* of the Pelvic Myofascial Wand.

2. Assume a comfortable semi-reclined position with your knees bent. An alternative position may be standing with one leg raised on a footstool.

3. Separate your labia majora and find your vaginal opening.

4. Gently insert the tapered end into the vaginal opening.

5. Orient yourself to the vaginal opening and pelvic floor muscles as a clock to identify painful or tight muscles.

 TheraWand Positional Clock

6. Turn the Pelvic Myofascial Wand to the 9 or 3 o’clock position to begin strokes.

7. Since the pelvic floor muscles surround the vaginal opening, strokes are best performed from 11 to 7 o’clock and 1 to 5 o’clock.

8. Avoid applying strokes to 12 or 6 o’clock due to sensitive structures such as the urethra and rectum unless otherwise directed by your practitioner.

9. Perform gentle strokes for several minutes on each side until relief is felt.

10. Trigger point release and lengthening can be achieved by holding sustained pressure on the painful pelvic floor muscle(s) with the tapered end of the Pelvic Myofascial Wand.

11. Always use with caution and consult with a healthcare provider that specializes in pelvic floor rehabilitation if you are unsure how to use this device.

12. Stop use and consult with your doctor if pain or discomfort persists.

13. Use daily, every other day, or how prescribed by your healthcare provider.

VAGINAL CLOCK: Sensitive urethral and bladder tissues lie between the 11 and 1 o’clock positions. Only release here if specifically directed by your healthcare provider.

Abnormal Response

Improper trigger point pressure may lead to severe cramping and pain for more than a day. Decrease trigger point pressure for release during the next session and monitor your response. Stop use and consult with your healthcare provider if abnormal response continues.
